Stewards Club of Upstate New York

We are folks who love dogs and also love helping the local kennel clubs that present dog shows by stewarding at those shows.  A dog show steward is the clerk of the show ring, whether at a conformation show or a performance event.  We help the show run smoothly by assisting the ring judge and the exhibitors at that ring.

We provide training to be a steward, with the prospective ring steward observing an experienced steward, then performing the duties of steward under supervision until the new ring steward can function on his or her own.

The AKC publication "Dog Show Stewards" is the "bible" for ring stewards.  It is available at akc.org.

Clubs that are interested in our services and individuals who would like to become stewards and join our club are invited to contact the club president or chief steward, whose contact information is listed on the Home Page.
